From April 28 to 30, 2025, the first Open Dialogue, “The Future of the World: A New Platform for Global Growth” — an international forum and essay competition dedicated to the future of the global economy, was held in Moscow.

The event was organized by the National Centre RUSSIA with expert support from the TRIM Center of Expertise.

Scholars, independent experts, entrepreneurs, journalists, students, and other professionals shared their ideas on the development of the global economy, submitting around 700 essays for the competition. Across four thematic tracks—People, Environment, Technology, and Connectivity—participants presented projects and initiatives aimed at shaping a new model of global economic growth, in which the Global Majority countries are expected to play a leading role.

The proposals addressed a wide range of issues, including education reform, migration challenges, urban development, climate change, the application of artificial intelligence, the expansion of renewable energy sources, the transition to a circular economy, social entrepreneurship, the creation of international industrial clusters, and the development of new logistics routes. Authors of the top-ranked essays were invited to Moscow to present their ideas in person.

“Many existing international platforms, mechanisms, and institutions were clearly designed to address the challenges of the last century and are increasingly failing to meet the demands of the 21st century. To not only maintain but accelerate development, the Global Majority countries need to build their own platform—one that is open, fair, people-centered, technologically advanced, and sustainable. A platform that serves the interests of all nations rather than a limited group of privileged actors,” said Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, during the event.

A key outcome of the first Open Dialogue will be the report Shaping a New Platform for Global Growth, which will identify major trends in global economic development based on the ideas and proposals presented by participants.
